Mimaki’s specialist textile reseller,RA Smart, is pleased to announce the newest addition to its award-winning portfolio of large format printers; the JV34-260. Based on the award winning JV33 series, the new model features a print width of 2.6m and achieves significantly faster speeds resulting in higher productivity while at the same time appealing to cost-conscious print service providers. The JV34-260 is available from April 2011.

Mimaki’s new JV34-260 is not only one of the most productive wide format printers in its class, it also comes at a very competitive price. The JV34-260’s high throughput of up to 30 m2/h alongside a host of further standard features allow print service providers to cost-effectively produce outstanding graphics and images using Mimaki’s proven RIP software that is included in the package.

Suitable for all and graphics sign printing requirements, including banners and flags

The sign and graphics market is characterized by different requirements for indoor-outdoor applications. Mimaki’s new JV34 series covers all of these and more. Be it banners, flags or other substrates, the new super wide inkjet machine enables printers to produce outstanding results with outdoor durable or sublimation inks on a wide variety of materials including polyester – while at the same time streamlining workflows.

The Mimaki JV34-260 incorporates two newly developed print heads in a staggered arrangement, resulting in a print speed of around 30 m2/h (at 540 x 720 dpi). Further productivity improvements are gained through the implementation of a range of Mimaki functionalities that enable largely unattended production, freeing personnel and workload for other tasks. Mimaki’s Automatic Media Feeder provides continuous web tension over the whole width of the substrate enabling impressive image quality, even on long jobs. As standard, the Mimaki AMF supports a maximum roll weight of 100 kg.

The JV34-260 features Mimaki’s UISS (Uninterrupted Ink Supply System) which delivers continuous ink supply for long print jobs. As soon as one ink cartridge is empty, the system automatically detects this and will start supplying ink from another cartridge of the same colour. In combination with the optional MBIS (Mimaki Bulk Ink System), comprising of ink contained within two litre sacks; significant cost savings and environmental benefits can be achieved.

High print quality makes for a sound investment

Three variable dot sizes enable accurate and high quality images with smooth gradations even when printing in four-colour-mode. A three stage intelligent heater before, during and after printing ensures fast drying times, as the pre-heater warms the substrate before printing while the automatic drying fan dries the ink even at high speeds so that the media can be taken up directly after printing. A print head height of 2 to 3 mm can be adjusted easily according to substrate and for prints with sublimation inks, print head height can be adjusted according to the thickness of transfer paper between 3 and 4 mm.

This combination of a feature rich printer at a competitive price is something that Hybrid’s national sales manager, John de la Roche is confident will appeal to print providers looking to increase their capacity. “The Mimaki JV34-260 makes a sound investment,” he says. “The proven platform coupled with Mimaki’s production printing know-how ensures print providers will benefit from the increase in capacity and quality that the JV34 can deliver.”

Available from late Spring, further details on the JV34-260 can be gained by contacting Magnus RA Smart on 01625 576231 or by emailing magnus@rasmart.co.uk

Mimaki have announced their new desktop UV LED inkjet printer, the UJF-3042, an evolution in desktop promotional & industrial product imprinting, and personalised gifts printing.

This desktop UV printer is perfect for high quality short run production printing and sampling, on a wide range of substrates up to A3 in size, and is generating a lot of interest from industry – and from educational establishments.

Promotional merchandise, name badges, nameplates, novelty goods, electronics cases, stickers & packaging labels, just an idea of some of wide range of products that can be created with the new Mimaki UJF-3042.

The recently designed inkjet print heads that Mimaki have incorporated into this new desktop UV printer, makes the UJF-3042 an remarkably good value for money proposition.

The use of LED UV curing, combined with the ability to print to a vast choice of uncoated media, makes for a very cost effective solution.

This is a highly versatile desktop UV printer, with a maximum print resolution of 1440×1200 DPI, capable of printing onto uncoated substrates such as glass, metal, wood, plastic and acrylic at up to 50mm thick & up to A3 in width, and with the ability to create textured effects & Braille.

The print speed is also very impressive for a desktop printer, being able to print a full A3 print, including printing the white, in just 4 minutes!

Low energy consumption is not the only benefit provided by the LD UV curing technology utilized by this printer, the added benefit is that due to the smaller heat output in comparison with other curing methods, heat sensitive materials can be imprinted without the risk of heat damage.

The ability to print white ink means that coloured, transparent and metallic substrates can be printed to with the white as an over or under printed feature, either as a pad or in perfect registration.

The desktop size of this printer not only makes for a more conveniently sized printer for desktop use, but also facilitates easier installation, having being designed to ensure that it can fit easily though a standard width door.

Mimaki’s superior 16 bit Postscript RIP software comes included with this printer.

“The launch of the UJF-3042 adds a really exciting model to Mimaki’s ever-growing UV curing printer range. We can cater for any requirement from desktop to super-wide and the trickle down of technology is now benefiting smaller users and new entrants.”

For pricing, availability & further information on the new Mimaki UJF-3042 desktop UV printer, speak to Magnus on 01625 576231, or email magnus@rasmart.co.uk

Operating the country’s largest digital print facility, RA Smart is best known for pioneering the digital print revolution through the mid-late nineties, to present day. However the company has also been actively involved in keeping the ancient art of Jacquard Weave alive and well, a method that is now proving a major export success for British manufacturing.

Buying raw silk, which is then de-gummed and dyed in Macclesfield, RA Smart use 100% Pure Silk Warps and weave with both 4 and 8 ply Pure Silk Weft. It has 4 high speed looms, capable of producing the most intricate of designs.

Managing director, Ron Smart says: “Weave is a wonderful method of production, offering short runs and requiring no screens. Growth through Weave in our men’s tie business has been exponential over the last couple of years, with 80% of what we now produce being exported to markets such as the US and Japan. Such countries see great kudos in silk produced in Macclesfield, a town with a rich silk history dating back to 1261 AD when King Edward granted the borough a Royal Charter. Here at RA Smart we are proud to be keeping Macclesfield’s worldwide reputation for quality silk production alive through this wonderful ancient art.

”RA smart’s weave business is not reserved purely for men’s ties, the company is also weaving silk for men’s scarves and currently working on the creation of several silk soft furnishing ranges with leading interior designers.
